The Muscular Contribution to Bulging and Herniated Discs

This special two hour presentation will help you recognize the difference between a disc problem and a simple muscular problem. The symptoms are obvious if you know what to look for. Various displays are used so that you can understand the hydraulic movement of disc material, how it is displaced, how it becomes damaged, and also how to recentralize disc material when a protrusion has occurred by using the very same forces in reverse that originally caused the problem. This information will dramatically change the quality of life for any who suffer from occasional or on-going cervical or lumbar disc problems. Self-help techniques and client protocols will be discussed and demonstrated.

Lifting and movement patterns will be analyzed, plus the reasons to avoid stretching and many McKenzie exercises that are incorrectly prescribed for those with disc herniations.

Don’t miss it.

April Speaker:

Alice Belusko

Alice Belusko has been practicing Hawaiian Lomi Lomi for the past 20 years. Her resume includes working with the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel, (a five star resort) on the island of Hawaii, Paul Brown Salon & Spa on Oahu and with numerous chiropractors in Hawaii and Florida.

She studied with the renowned, Queen of Lomi Lomi, Aunty Margaret Machado from 1988 until 1990. Aunty was the sole instructor and she was honored to work directly with the master and learn techniques not taught in the classroom. Wanting to share her knowledge and recognizing the need for Hawaiian Lomi Lomi, Alice received Aunty’s blessing to teach in July of 1999. She has successfully taught hundreds of students this ancient Hawaiian healing art.

Alice has written numerous articles for publication such as Massage Magazine, Massage Message and Enlightened Practice. She has also presented her Lomi Lomi and Success classes throughout the state of Florida. She has been a presenter at the FSMTA’s conference in 1999, 2006 & 2007. She is licensed in both Hawaii (MAT #2474) and Florida (MA #0028780).

Alice also has a Bachelor of Science in Business with a minor in Marketing from Goldey-Beacom College. She has obtained a 2nd degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, and has run marathons in Hawaii and competed in the Kona half-Ironman on the Big Island. She has participated in many other triathlons and duathlons. She is a member of the FSMTA and NCBTMB. Alice currently has a successful private practice in Florida, where she’s resided since 1998.
