Distinctions in Craniosacral Work Craniosacral work has evolved since Dr. William Garner Sutherland, the father of Osteopathy in the Cranial Field, died in 1954. Thanks to Dr. John Upledger making Craniosacral Therapy available to non-osteopaths, three main approaches to the work are available for Massage Therapists to study. Most therapists don't know the difference between the approaches, and this lecture will introduce each one: Biomechanical, Functional, and Biodynamic. Includes demonstration of at least one of the approaches.
About the Presenter: Mary Reis’ 32 year career in the Massage Therapy field spans 3 decades of private practice and teaching. As an instructor at the Florida School of Massage since 1995, she continues to support the mission of the school — to improve the quality of life through the vehicles of touch and awareness — in all of her classes. While Massage Therapy originally drew her to the profession in 1993, it is the study and practice in the Cranial Field that she finds most nourishing and enriching. It reveals and makes tangible the mysteries of life and love, and deepens her appreciation for being in this world. Her experience with 3 different Craniosacral programs inspired her to develop her own CE course — “An Introduction to Craniosacral Work: History, Foundations, and the 3 Main Approaches”. She offers both her own Craniosacral CE course, and teaches for the Touch of Presence® School for Biodynamic Studies.
