Lecture Topic: Reducing Sympathetic Stress and Chronic Pain in under 5 Minutes

Lecture will report the stress hormone and key autonomic nervous system (ANS) changes that occur with DC Microcurrent applied to BFA acupuncture points. This lecture will introduce the concepts of HRV and stress, and explore their integral relationship to pain, exercise tolerance and pain rehabilitation. Later, participants will identify and locate the primary BFA acupuncture protocol points and with hands-on practice provided. Chronic stress and pain can make our daily lives miserable, and can lead to significantly impaired physical health and high societal costs. For some time now, chronic pain has been difficult to diagnose and treat for many health care professionals. Clinician goals of improved functional patient outcomes are directly related in literature to the reduction of pain. The importance of understanding how effective your pain outcomes are in relation to other therapies, and understanding which modalities may be synergistic-ally be integrated for enhance massage pain outcomes is imperative in today’s competitive therapy market.


Short Bio: 

Joe Durant has been a Massage Therapist for over 20 years and currently has a private practice in Brunswick, GA. Joe completed a BA on Psychology and massage before focusing on pain management, where for 20 years he has dedicated his life to improving the lives of others suffering from pain, earning master pain practitioner. He has published in several prestigious journals and instructed post-graduate continuing education integrative pain management for over 15 years. He has also extensively studied Oriental Medicine, NeuroAnatomical Acupuncture, and Integrative Pain Therapies and holds a Master’s degree as a Pain Practitioner (MPP). Joe is co-author of “Functional Acupuncture for Women’s Health and co-author of “Functional Acupuncture for Pain Management”. Joe is an international speaker and continuing educational instructor, lecturing around the world on the topics of Scar Release Therapy, Cranial Release, Pain MAnagement for over 5 years. He is a qualified Continuing Education (CE) provider for physical therapy nationally (Procert) and at the state level (Florida) and has instructed over 100 CE pain seminars to date.
