Human Trafficking
This course provides an overview of the crimes of sex and labor human trafficking and offers a global perspective of human trafficking as a whole, focusing on human sex trafficking in the United States as it pertains to the Massage Therapy Industry. Participants will be equipped to identify potential victims of sex trafficking and potential illicit establishments, and will be equipped to report suspicions to the appropriate agencies. Participants will be equipped with the knowledge of actionable tips for reporting to law enforcement. Human Trafficking: Massage Therapist Certificate outlines ways in which illicit establishments operate, enabling participants to be able to identify red flags in an establishment that may be recruiting him/her for employment. Participants will be trained on trafficker recruitment strategies and solicitation tactics, and how to stay safe as a practitioner of Massage Therapy.

About the Presenter:
Rebecca Pollock has been a practicing massage therapist for over 25 years.  She has worked in chiropractic offices, day spas, five-star hotel spas, fitness facilities, private practice and wellness clinics.  She combines elements of Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western principles to create therapeutic experiences for her clients.  Education is her real passion.  She taught in massage therapy schools in Chicago for 8 years and ran the Chicago College of Healing Arts (CCHA) for two years.  She has been an NCBTMB Approved Provider since 2013, and teaches continuing education in Hot stone massage, Aromatherapy, Herbalism, Teacher Training and Mindset.  She also consults for educators in curriculum development and the approval process.  Helping with the growth of the massage community she was a committee member for NCBTMB for 2 years and worked as the School Outreach Specialist at NCBTMB for 5 years. She is a member of the American Herbalist Guild (AHG), THAI Healing Alliance (THAI), and the Florida State Massage Therapy Association (FSMTA).  She currently serves as the Executive 2nd Vice President and Director of Educational Standards for FSMTA.
